What is the difference between the in-person and virtual challenge?

The virtual challenge asks dog lovers from all over Australia to walk 30 minutes a day with their four-legged friend, and raise funds to fight animal cruelty. This challenge is from 1 – 31 May 2022.

The in-person events are physical events being hosted in some States in 2022. We ask participants to purchase tickets to the event (which only covers our expenses to run the event) and fundraise to raise much-needed funds to help fight animal cruelty. The in-person events are a super fun day out, filled with stalls, music, competitions and other fun entertainment, depending on the event.

When is Million Paws Walk taking place?

The virtual challenge is taking place from 1-31 May 2022, while the in-person events are being hosted on a Sunday in May (please refer to the Find a Walk page to see the date of your closest event).

Who can participate in Million Paws Walk? What if I don’t have a dog?

Anyone can take part in Million Paws Walk, even if you don’t have a dog! Adults, children, friends, families, clubs and corporate teams are all welcome to participate and fundraise! Join us today!

Who organises Million Paws Walk?

The events are organised and run by the RSPCA in each state and territory. Many of the regional events are organised by the region's Branch, Shelter and/or Supporter Group.

How much does it cost to register for Million Paws Walk?

Registering for the virtual challenge is FREE! You can join us from anywhere and help raise funds to fight animal cruelty! We even have a whole bunch of tools and resources to help you with your fundraising.

The in-person events require a ticket to be purchased to attend. We encourage you to book your tickets ahead of time for quick and easy access to your event. Ticket prices differ per event so check out the Find a Walk page for more details on your closest event.

What happens if it rains?

Our in-person events take place rain, hail or shine!

What is your COVID-19 policy?

All in-person events will be adhering to the Government regulations at the time of the event. As each State has different regulatons, please refer to your event's info page for all relevant information as it is updated.

Where do all the funds raised go?

All proceeds from Million Paws Walk go to supporting the ongoing work of the RSPCA to care for animals in need. The money you raise online, as well as the merchandise you buy, all goes towards improving animal welfare. It keeps the doors of our animal shelters open and our inspectors on the road, while also providing community education on animal care and welfare issues.

  • Sign up for Million Paws Walk and we’ll create a fundraising page for you,
  • Make the first donation yourself – your friends will soon follow,
  • Personalise your page – add a profile picture of you and your dog, say why you want to support neglected animals. In your own words is always best,
  • Start logging your steps and be social.
  • Share your fundraising link on social media and watch those fundraising dollars roll in!

How do I edit my fundraising page?

Click ‘Login’ in the top right-hand corner, which will allow you to access your dashboard and make any changes you need to.

How do I ask for donations?

We have lots of fundraising tips and tricks to help your fundraising efforts. Visit the resources page to access these items. You'll be surprised how generous your community is if you just ask.

How do I thank people who have donated in support of my walk?

Don’t worry – we've got you covered! We know how important it is to show your appreciation, so we’ve already set up a functionality which automatically sends a thank you email to your donor as soon as they make a donation. You’ll find this within your dashboard.

Another way is to include thank you notes to your donors (and don’t forget to tag them) in your social posts when asking for more donations! Many people love to be publicly acknowledged for their kind donation and support.

Are donations tax-deductible? What about tickets?

All donations are tax-deductible, however ticket prices are not.
