Anyone can enter the event and everyone is welcome. This includes children, adults, families, school teams, corporate teams, friends and neighbours! Please understand, this is a dog only event. We welcome all dogs, whether they are large or small, fluffy or hairless. As you will be in the company of hundreds of dogs, you must take complete responsibility for your own pets at the event. Make sure your dog is fully vaccinated and registered before coming to the event. Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. Ensure your dog is socialised and generally non-aggressive to people and other dogs.
That's okay, you can still participate! As well as joining fellow animal lovers and dogs on the walk, there will be entertainment, displays, stalls, giveaways and a host of other activities! There will also be plenty of RSPCA staff to talk to if you're interested in adopting a dog or another pet!
The registration fees help to cover the cost of the event while the money raised through online fundraising go towards the running of RSPCA Qld's vital services. These services include the care of over 51,000 animals each year, the rescuing and rehabilitation of wildlife animals and the role of inspectors in investigating over 18,000 cruelty cases each year.
It costs RSPCA Qld almost $50 million dollars each year to run these services, and we receive only 2% of this from the government. The funds you raise through Million Paws Walk is helping to close this gap.
Absolutely! We actively encourage corporate organisations to get involved with the Million Paws Walk - whether that be sponsorship, team participation or fundraising. We would love to hear from you - contact the RSPCA Queensland Events Team at email@example.com or on (07) 3258 5608.
Whether you’re coming along as a four-legged or two-legged participant, we need to make sure that you have a fun and safe Million Paws Walk.
Make sure to wear appropriate outdoor clothing, comfortable walking shoes, hat and sunglasses! Pack sunscreen for yourself and animal sunscreen for pets that have a fair or white coat.
Bring poop bags and enough water for you and your pooch (and a portable water bowl if you have one). You'll also need cash for parking, lunch and merchandise purchases.
To join the Million Paws Club, each participant must raise $500 or more through their online fundraising page by 5pm Friday 18 May 2018. Funds must be raised per person, per page or in the case of a team, funds must be to the equal value of $500 per team member. All participants who fundraise $500 or more will receive an invitation to the Million Paws Club by email closer to the event date. Unfortunately, this exclusive club membership is only available on the day for South Bank Parklands and Gold Coast registrants.
No. Fundraising must be through your Million Paws Walk online fundraising page. If you collect cash donations, you can update this on your online fundraising page yourself or get friends and family to process an online donation themselves. Sending donations to any RSPCA Queensland facility by mail will not be included in your fundraising total. Making a donation through the RSPCA Queensland website will also not be included in your fundraising total.
If you are over 16 years old and don’t mind an early start, then you’re already half way there! We offer a variety of volunteering roles to suit all fitness levels. The ideal volunteer will have the ability to work well under pressure, be able to cope with large crowds and have a flexible approach. Of course, a love of dogs is a must!
