What is Million Paws Walk?
Million Paws Walk is RSPCA WA’s largest annual fundraising event. Animal lovers walk one kilometre, 2.5 kilometres or 5 kilometres with their dog to raise vital funds for animals in need.
Where can I find specific information about my walk - start time, parking etc.?
Information on all of the walks will be added as it becomes available, so check back regularly for updates. If you can't find the information you are looking for, call us on (08) 9209 9300 or email us at millionpawswalk@rspcawa.asn.au.
Who can enter the event?
Anyone and everyone! Children, adults, families, school teams, corporate teams, friends and neighbours are all welcome.  Bring your dogs, but please don't bring any other animals. This is to ensure the safety of all animals.
What does RSPCA WA do?
RSPCA WA is a not-for-profit organisation funded primarily by the community. We have a fleet of 15 inspectors who respond to animal cruelty complaints across WA and prosecute those who commit an offence against the Animal Welfare Act. Before being rehomed, animals are cared for and rehabilitated at our RSPCA Malaga Shelter. The fundraising team works with the community to raise the $8 million needed every year to operate our animal shelter and Inspectorate program. We also run a program of Dog Training classes throughout the Perth metro area.
What if I don’t have a dog?
That's okay, you can still participate! As well as joining fellow animal lovers and dogs on the walk, there will be entertainment, displays, stalls, giveaways and a host of other activities!
Can I volunteer to help?
Yes! Check out our volunteer’s page to find out more about volunteering opportunities for on the day and in the lead up to the event.
How do I fundraise for Million Paws Walk?
Whether you're able to attend the walk or not, you can create your own fundraising page. You can send it out to friends, family and colleagues, inviting them to support you and your efforts to help RSPCA WA
Where does the money go?
Proceeds from the Million Paws Walk event supports the ongoing work of RSPCA WA. Our ability to provide care and protection for animals depends on the generosity of people like you. The funds raised from Million Paws Walk allow us to operate our animal shelter, keep our Inspectorate fighting animal cruelty and provide community education on animal welfare issues. Who organises each event?
The events are held across Australia by the RSPCA in each state and territory. The flagship WA event held at Sir James Mitchell Park is organised by RSPCA WA, and the regional walks are organised by the regional supporters of RSPCA WA.
Why was the event started?
Million Paws Walk started in 1994 in Queensland by Dr Cam Day. He believed it would promote responsible pet ownership and raise much-needed funds for the RSPCA, as well as be a fun day for owners and their pets.  Since then it has expanded with almost 100 events held nationally.
