What is Million Paws Walk?
Million Paws Walk is a dog walking event held by the RSPCA. This event is the largest fundraising event for the year. It involves thousands of people and their dogs registering, fundraising and participating in walks held across Australia. These vital funds raised are to provide for the animals in our care and fight against animal cruelty. Visit our About page to learn more.
When is Million Paws Walk?
The walk is held on the third Sunday in May every year. This year it will be held on Sunday 19 May 2019.
Who can enter the event?
Anyone who purchases a ticket can enter the event. Children, adults, families, school teams, corporate teams, friends and neighbours. While we have welcomed a variety of animals over the years, you must understand that you will be in the company of thousands of dogs and you must take complete responsibility for your own animals. If you don’t have a dog – that’s okay! You can still participate and walk to fight animal cruelty!
Where does the money raised go?
Proceeds from the Million Paws Walk supports the ongoing work of the RSPCA. In Victoria alone, we care for over 20,000 animals each year. Funds raised through entry fees, the sale of merchandise and online fundraising, help assist the RSPCA to operate its animal shelters, support its inspectorate and provide community education on animal welfare issues.
What if I don't have a dog?
That's ok! You can still come along and join thousands of people as we all walk together to fight animal cruelty!
Can I bring my cat or other animal along?
Unfortunately this is a dog only event. To ensure the safety of your pet we recommend you keep them at home (or go on your own walk in a safe environment).
Does my dog/s need to be vaccinated?
Yes - all dogs' vaccinations need to be up to date before you attend the walk. This is to ensure the safety and health of your dog and the dogs around you!
Do I need to bring my ticket confirmation with me?
Yes - we recommend you bring an electronic or printed copy of your confirmation email/ticket with you on the day.

Million Paws Club

I'm a Million Paws Club member! How do I gain access to the Million Paws Club marquee?
Just walk down the red carpet which leads to the Million Paws Club marquee! Event staff will check you in and provide access passes, allowing you and your friend to come and go whenever you wish.
I've raised $500 or more, but I haven't received an email confirming my access to the Million Paws Club. What should I do?
Simply contact the RSPCA VIC Events Team at mpw@rspcavic.org.au and let us know. Remember, we will be sending out Million Paws Club invitation emails closer to the actual event.
Is there a Million Paws Club at every walk location?
Unfortunately, entry to our Million Paws Club is only available at our Alert Park Lake walk location.

Volunteering

Who should become a Million Paws Walk volunteer?
If you are over 15 years old and willing to have an early start to the day (don’t worry, it’s only for one day), then we want you! There are a range of volunteering roles to suit all personalities and fitness levels. You should be able to work well under pressure, cope with large crowds and have flexibility. Of course, you must love dogs too!
How will I know if my application is successful?
You will receive an email from the RSPCA VIC Events Team a little closer to the event date, confirming your role and rostered time.
How do I apply for a volunteer position at a regional walk?
If you are interested in volunteering at one of the regional walks, please contact your local walk to find out how. You will find the appropriate contact details on the individual page of each walk location.
