When sweet, little Hugo was surrendered to the RSPCA, he was only 2 years old and was severely ill. He had lost his vision and was having extreme difficulty eating and even walking due to the pain in his eyes. After not eating for 3 days, he managed to eat a small amount of food whilst an RSPCA staff member sat with him and stroked his back. Our veterinary team recognised his condition as advanced glaucoma and organised an emergency surgery to remove his eyes. To recover from his surgery, Hugo was placed into foster care. The very next day he was eating and throwing his toys around in happiness! He recovered well and quickly became best friends with his foster carer’s older dog. He was so happy and settled in his new family, that his carers couldn’t bear to part with him and he was adopted!
